How to remove links on a wooden watch that HAS screws from Woodie Specs [Video Transcript]

Hello, everybody. My name is Chris. I work for Woodie Specs and I’m going to be showing you how to size your new wooden watch. I have a camera pointed down here. Obviously, you cannot see me so you could see what I’m working on here, but I’m going to be working on our red sandalwood watch for men. It’s our most popular watch. What you’re going to need to size the watch band is three things: two small flathead screwdrivers and then pliers to pull the pin down. I put my hand underneath just so you can- so the camera can focus on what I’m trying to show you. Let’s take the watch out here. You can see here that there are eight links that can be removed, the ones that have the middle screw inside of it.

For demonstration purposes, I’m going to show you how to take out two of the links on one side here. First, what you’re going to need to do is put one of the flathead screwdrivers on one side here. Hold it steady. Don’t move that side. Go to the other side and then you’re just going to simply unscrew. You need some steady hands here so if you partied the night before, this might be a little difficult, which I did not do, just saying. You can see here that the screw is very small. Here, look for my hand there so you can see that the screw is very small. That’s holding the pin inside here. It comes out and then on that side, you just push out the pin there and then the pin comes out. You might need pliers to pull that out and you could see that the watch band has separated, all right.

Now since we’re taking two links out, we’re going to move two links down and do the exact same thing here. Go right over here. Unscrew this on. Take the pliers and pull the screw out. Then once again, you’re going to push out the pin. I usually do it with just the flathead screwdriver here on one side. Push it out. Take out the pin, and voila, two links have been removed. Then what you’re going to want to do is line it up, put it together, put the wooden watch band together and just be aware that although this is made out of wood, it’s not that delicate. Don’t worry about breaking it but at the same time, don’t be too rough with it, if that makes sense.

I put the pin back inside there. I lined it up so the holes match. You want to line it up all the way through. It’s a little bit tough sometimes. Here we go, so we lined it up right there with the third piece of wood. You’re going to take out one of those little screws that you saw. Put it on that side. Again, you need some steady hands. Screw it in then put the other. Now that it’s in place now, the screw won’t fall out. I want to tighten it so put the other flathead on the side to keep it steady again and then I’d tighten that screw, but you don’t want to tighten it too much. You don’t want to break it.

Once you feel that the screw is all the way in, you don’t want to go any further. You don’t want to tighten it too much. Voila, it’s back together. Put the watch on and there, now I’m a hand model for one of our watches. I hope you enjoyed this video. If you have any questions, you can always email us at contactwoodiespecs@gmail.com. Other than that, I hope you have a great rest of your day and enjoy your new watch. Thank you.
